July 2007

Son of the White Cloth female leopard. This young male leopard, which is easily identified by the kink in his tail, was only found once during the report period, in the open area at Claredon dam.

February 2007

Son of the White cloth female leopard was seen a number of times in the northern reaches of the reserve.

January 2007

The son of the White Cloth female was seen only once during the report period.

December 2006

The son of the White Cloth Female was seen during the initial part of the game report period, attempting to steal a kill from the Newington Male. It appeared that they young leopard took quite a beating from the older, larger male. The following day he was chased up a tree by two wild dogs at Matshapiri Dam. This leopard still appears to be seeking out an area in which he can establish himself and claim a territory.

August 2006

The Son of the White Cloth Female was only seen on a few occasions, all of these at the onset of the August report period. All sightings were on northern Marthly. To date he seems to have successfully evaded the Newington Male who would surely chase him away should he encounter him.

July 2006

The Son of the White Cloth Female was sighted on several occasions mainly along the Mlowathi River System. He did however, venture further east than what he has in the past, into prime Newington Male territory. On one occasion he was found watching the Newington Male and a nervous female leopard, but wisely did not make his presence felt and slipped away.

June 2006

The son of the White Cloth Female was seen 5 times during the report period, mainly between Campbell Koppies and Mlowathi Dam. He was seen hunting without success on two occasions. The Newington Male put on an impressive roaring display and seemed to be searching for him on one occasion when this young leopard was close by, yet it remains strange that he has not been chased away as he continues to be persistent in the Mlowathi.

The son of the White Cloth Female was seen 8 times and appears to be making the northern reaches of the Mlowathi his home. Although still young he was seen scent marking along Moponyolele Drive and also displayed some impressive hunting skills to catch an adult female impala in the open area near Mlowathi Dam. Unmistakable with his bent tail, this leopard seems to be setting up a territory adjacent to the Newington male and may even become a contender for this older male’s territory in the future.

April 2006

March 2006

The son of the White Cloth Female was seen three times on northern Eyrefield and chased the female cheetah with three cubs at Mlowathi Dam on one occasion.

February 2006

The son of the White Cloth Female was seen on three occasions at Mlowathi dam and provided much entertainment when he stalked and killed three Egyptian goose goslings. He was also seen scent marking for the first time along the Gowrie Boundary north of Mlowathi Dam, perhaps a dangerous venture for a young male in the heart of Newington Male territory.

January 2006

The son of the White Cloth Female was seen on seven occasions.
