| December 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 14 YEARS 2 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD This female was only seen once during the report period and she moved off the property very soon after being found. She is a favourite of many of the rangers and trackers and would be a sad loss if she chose to move her territory north of us. She was looking in good condition and was actively scent marking as she moved. Only time will tell if she remains as one of the MalaMala leopards. November 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 14 YEARS 1 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD The White Cloth female was not seen during this report period. Reports from rangers in the northern property of Gowrie have suggested that lions had killed her male cub. The description of the lions matched that of the Styx pride. This leopard has had many encounters with the Styx pride over the years, some good and some bad, but she has always managed to stay ahead of the game. October 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 14 YEARS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD The White Cloth female was not seen during this report period. September 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 11 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD The White Cloth Female was only seen once during this period. The female leopard was found when the rangers were following the Styx Pride on northern central Eyrefield. The lions chased a hyena with ranger’s following and the hyena led the lions to a tree with a bushbuck kill in it and the leopard feeding. The lioness climbed the tree and stole the kill from the leopard with the leopard moving higher into the tree so the lioness could not get close to her. She stayed in the tree for the morning as the lions came to sleep under the tree she was in. The female never slept and continued to hiss and snarl at the lions under the tree. By the afternoon she had vacated the area.
August 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 10 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD The White cloth Female was not seen during this report period. Reports from neighboring reserves suggest that the Styx pride caught and killed the cub of the White cloth female. July 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 9 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD June 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 8 MONTHS1 CUB Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD Sightings of the White Cloth female and her cub have been very slow for this report period with the female being seen only once and the cub not at all. There has been an unconfirmed report from the rangers in Gowrie, that the White Cloth female’s newest cub, (not the son with the kinked tail), has been killed by lions in the properties to the north of Mala Mala. The lack of any sightings of the cub this month lends credibility to this report, and only time will confirm if he is really gone. The only sighting of the White Cloth female was in a large open area towards the northeastern section of Mala Mala. She moved off east in the direction of the Kruger National Park. During this report period there have been 2 sightings of the older son of the White Cloth female. Both occasions found him fit and strong. May 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 7 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD April 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 6 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD The White Cloth Female was seen for the first time on the 08 April during the report period. She was seen to hunt a herd of impala unsuccessfully before being chased initially by an elephant and then a rhino. Rangers lost sight of the female during the interaction, and were unable to relocate her again during the day, however found her positioned beautifully in a Marula tree in the same area the following day. She was not seen again during the report period. March 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 5 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD This old and beautiful legend was only viewed once during this report period. Mid way through the month she was found on Tlebe Rocks Rd, to the west of Tlebe Rocks. She was lying across the bough of a Marula Tree in a very photographic pose. She seemed to be healthy. There were no sightings of her cub this period. February 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE *13 YEARS 5 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD January 2007 WHITE CLOTH FEMALE * 13 YEARS 4 MONTHS Location: NORTHERN EYREFIELD There was only one sighting of these two leopards during the game report period. They were found mid month, half way along the northern boundary of the reserve. The White Cloth female had made a kill of sub-adult female kudu, which is not surprising for such an experienced hunter. Both the leopards were watched as they fed on the kill at the base of a Marula tree. They were not seen again during the report period, yet there is no doubt we will see more of them in the future.
