In support of South Africans
MalaMala Game Reserve only employs South African citizens. Community support and develoment specifically with respect to employment is excepetionally important in the country and in this region. Despite almost daily requests for employment from abroad, MalaMala has remained unwavering in this policy. The communities on the western fringe of the reserve are given priority in respect of any employment opportunities.
Rangers and Trackers
Regardless of how big a game reserve is and how many animals inhabit its plains, you may still not see the Elephants for the trees unless you are accompanied by experienced game rangers and trackers.
The MalaMala Game Reserve rangers are employed for their knowledge of the African bush and their ability to communicate with people from all over the world. These highly qualified individuals are fascinating company and are the ideal ambassadors through which to experience the animals and the seemingly invisible language of the bush. Apart from conducting informative game drives, the ranger also acts as host within the camp, discreetly reading the needs of his guests whilst at the same time sharing his stories, knowledge and passion of the bush with safari enthusiasts.
The rangers are skillfully assisted by Shangaan trackers who accompany each of the game drives. The trackers have prodigious bush knowledge and an almost mystical connection, reading the seemingly invisible signs of the environment and its inhabitants.
