courtesy of Jeffrey Balkind and daughter Emma, "I returned this time to Mala Mala
main camp, having stayed at the old Harry's Hut in 1996.
Again, the visit was spectacular -- the sightings were fantastic
(see photos), the knowledge of our ranger Anthony Harding
and his tracker were terrific, and the whole courtesy of
the staff and camp manager, Tom Bloy, were beyond belief.
"......Almost instantly the Ngoboswan female
leopard burst from a thicket, seizing the impala in mid air.
She effectively immobilised her quarry and dragged it into
the thicket in which she had stashed her other carcass...."
The Ngoboswan female was then heard calling
for her cub, everyone waited silently, and eventually the cub
appeared from a green spike thorn thicket. The sight of the
cub was a relief - the Newington male had not killed the second
cub afterall! |
