I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how FABULOUS the trip to Africa turned out. EVERYTHING was perfect; from the people who transferred us from the airport to the hotel, Mike, who shuttled us from Polokwane to the border, to the accommodations, the food and most especially the animal viewing.

We returned with videos, photos and curios which will give us a lifetime of enjoyment and appreciation. Perhaps my greatest appreciation goes to Mr. and Mrs. Rattray, not for the accommodations, but for their preservation of the African wilderness. I know it is a business, but it took dedication to commit to the preservation of the land and the animals. I, for one, am most grateful for their efforts, and for your efforts in making our vacation most memorable.

Visiting MalaMala was a truly memorable experience. All the staff was brilliant but special recognition must go to our ranger Yuri de Villiers. He was exceptionally competent + a very personable young man who answered our many questions with extreme patience. The only downside was that we only were able to stay two nights! Maybe same day we will be able to return.

I have had an amazing 6 days at MalaMala. I am planning my return in August/September 2014. I would love to have Grant as my ranger. He is so full of knowledge, makes you laugh and an exceptional drives (especially when following the Cape hunting dogs)

Everyone on the staff, particularly Nick, Sara and Alan, were very courteous and knowledgeable. Nick was a great guide with a good sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge, and more than eager to share. We have been on safaris in East Africa, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa for 30 years (at least 15 separate trips). We have never encountered a guide as capable, polite, expert and kind as Nick du Plessis.

I just want to say how amazed I am at all that I was able to experience and able to do at 20 years old. Yuri, David and Bens were absolutely amazing! I have never in my short life been so relaxed and enthralled. It saddens me to leave.  Truly, should I be able to save money again I will be back in a heartbeat. You’re very lucky to have those three as rangers.

Our first safari experience at MalaMala 5 years ago was so amazing we had to return. Our second trip was just awesome! All the rangers were fabulous as well as the staff. We are already planning to return in a couple of years and will always choose Rattray’s on MalaMala over everywhere else. The standard of accommodation, food and staff are outstanding. And I haven’t even mentioned the game viewing!!! Very sad to leave such a amazing place.

I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at MalaMala. The property (pool, dining, gift shop, Boma, etc.) was clean and welcoming. The variety of activities we experienced (game drives, walk, bush breakfast, boma, etc.) were all unique and fun. But our absolute favorite part was our rangers’, Grant and Matt, so patient and helpful, genuinely kind and friendly, and their love of their job was quite evident, We enjoyed their company at all our events. Astonishing Africa

I was in a Land Rover at South Africa’s MalaMala Game Reserve snapping photos of a pride of lions less than 10 yards away, when my guide Bruce suddenly started the engine.

"Hold on," he said.
