A sad farewell to Tjololo - November 2007

It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing away of one of the most famous characters of MalaMala Game Reserve; the Rock Drift Male Leopard or Tjololo.

Probably the most famous leopard that has graced TV documentaries world wide, he was the ‘face’ of numerous leopard documentaries produced by Kim Wolhuter and National Geographic in the MalaMala Game Reserve.

But whether he was the Rock Drift Male to the rangers of MalaMala or Tjololo to the millions of viewers who saw him on TV and then visited him on MalaMala, we are all sad to see the old man of MalaMala go. .....read more

An Extraordinary and Extravagant Month at MalaMala - August 2007

Wild Dog Den on MalaMala - June 2007

A pack of 9 Cape Hunting Dogs (known as Wild Dogs) have denned and had pups on Mala Mala Game Reserve.  The dogs are therefore fairly restricted in their movements until the pups are large enough to follow the adults.  Guests visiting MalaMala will have a good chance of seeing the dogs either at the den, or when they return from their morning and afternoon hunting sessions.  This will no doubt enhance the already superb quality game viewing experienced on MalaMala over next month or so at least... read more

NO Queue to View

The phrase ‘queue to view’ was highlighted by a guest who arrived at MalaMala after having stayed elsewhere in southern Africa on safari and where he was only permitted 7 ½ minutes with a leopard and its cub before the vehicle rotation demanded their departure from the sighting.
